Guasha
A scraping therapy using a smooth-edged tool along lubricated skin to release stagnation, boost circulation and ease muscular tension.

In Mandarin, Guasha means “scraping sand”.
The treatment applies repeated unidirectional strokes to lubricated skin with a smooth-edged tool of ceramic, horn or jade, raising “sha” — localised redness marking the release of stagnation. According to TCM, Guasha clears blockages in the meridians, boosts blood circulation and stimulates Qi. Traditionally applied to the shoulders, neck and back, it has also been adapted for facial treatments.
